slideshow not displaying on specified page

I am attempting to setup a block slideshow it displays correctly when I view it in Structure>Views. However, when I activate the block as a top right column in the Mayo theme no images show.

These are the steps that I followed:

1) Setup Content types

• Created a type called: front page slideshow

• Deleted the body field

• Created a new field called slideshow_image, setting the field type to image and widget to Multiupload

2) Added Images/Content using the content type: front page slideshow
3) Created a new view

• Created a Block called Slideshow, clicked continue and edit

• set the view Title as Slideshow

• Format set to Slideshow and to show fields

• In Fields I set content as slideshow_image and title

• Filter Content is set to: front page slideshow

4) Setting a Block

• moved the View: Slideshow block to "top right column" on the Mayo theme

• Within the Block I set the content type to front page slideshow

• Then I specified to only show the block on the homepage by selecting: Only the listed pages and typing into the designated field
