Load Balancer Rebuilds

July 8th 18:00 UTC (11:00 PDT)
Production outage: YES
Change affects: www.drupal.org
To finish our load balancer rebuilds, we are moving traffic from our old load balancer to our new load balancer. During this process, there may be a five minute period of brief instability.

Backout plan: The switchover to our new load balancer may result in brief instability. If there is prolonged instability after the switch we are prepared to roll back to our old load balancer. Impact that could cause backout will be limited to services provided by the Drupal.org infrastructure.

Semantic Versioning Deployments

Times vary (see @drupal_infra for specific times as changes times are finalized)
Production outage: NO
Change affects: www.drupal.org
This change needs to be coordinated with the Drupal core maintainers. Drupal Core will branch 8.0.x from 8.x. The next tagged core release will be 8.0.0-{alpha|beta}N. A new release node will be made for the new dev branch. Issues, testbots, and other integrations will be switched to 8.0.x.

Backout plan:
In the event the switchover has unforeseen impact for Drupal.org, we will keep using 8.x. We are not prepared to backout if third-party services outside of our control are affected (i.e. Dreditor, Drupal Office Hours, SimplyTest.me, etc.) The change is being made in advance of Druapl 8.0.0-beta1 for these systems to have time to retool or upgrade.
