With the Transliteration module installed I receive the following error message.

Notice: Undefined index: type in check_markup2() (line 168 of /sites/all/modules/edit/includes/filter.inc).

It appears that transliteration in not a known contrib_filter_type in the edit_filter_info_alter function.
