Did not add Tags & Can't Uninstall

I couldn't get Meta tags (quick) to create meta tags but that's ok.

I want to uninstall it now and can't. Uninstalling is especially important as my memory is at premium.

I've deleted associated fields and paths in the modules user interface. I've checked permissions.
I've tried upping the Cron file deletion number to 100 files per Cron run and still can't uncheck the module so I can delete it safely.

Cron was run probably 15 times at 100 files per run - I have a very small site.

I agree with someone else's suggestion that the uninstall should be documented in the read me.txt file. If I had known what I was was getting into, I would not have tried this module.

My fault, I should have read the Known Issues first.

Can anyone tell me what I can safely do (without deleting in the database if possible) to remove
Meta tags (quick) and get on with my life?

A Drupal 8 edition might be a bit premature until the Drupal 7 issues are resolved.
