Hi,
I updated this module to implement new field setting: play in external player (new window). Window is automatically scaled to fit content, supports single files as well as playlists. Fixed a bug of no-advance on playlists without repeat option set (playlist plays once but proceeds to next file after previous finished this time).
Also added an API function to create external player play link from a file object.
All previous functionalities of the module are preserved.

Please post your patch in this issue. Even if the maintainer isn't interested in committing your work, I'm interested in seeing it (and possibly using it) to solve the same problem.

graber commentedI'm not sure the maintainer is ALIVE (or a Drupal developer anymore), since I haven't heard from him since a year or so, and I asked and have his predecessor on Skype.
I'll send you the newest version by mail (along with some additional contact data), don't really know what should we do in such a case, my version actually can't be called a bugfix anymore, but a new version, like 7.x-3.0, so I personally think a patch is not a good solution.
