[meta]Drupal 8 Upgrade

I am wondering the same. Would be nice to see this module in d8. How can I help?

We are working on two Drupal 8 projects. One could use this module...

I've been very much a caretaker maintainer of Data module, as I took it on for a project a few years ago, but that's long since gone.

As such, I've not been able to spend much time on the D7 version of this, let alone D8. It's very much going to have to be a community effort. I would welcome patches and subsequently, co-maintainers!

I am interested in this thread as well. Handling large external tables while enjoying search and views integration is crucial to a number of my historic and current projects if they are ever to be ported to D8. If D8 doesn't ultimately handle arbitrary tables I'd surely contribute to a community effort to bring Data forward.

@joachim: what would you think about porting this module to D8 as a part of Barcelona Friday mentored code sprint? I'm personally interested in porting this module to D8, and would like to become a co-maintainer

I won't be at DC Barcelona unfortunately, but if you & other people there want to sprint a port to D8, I say go for it! :)

As for co-maintainership, yes please -- it's high time this project got some more attention. Can you file a new issue for that, listing patches you've posted in the past (or post some in the future, that's good too!).
