Searching through prior posts, I was surprised to not discover anywhere, that this was mentioned already. The official release of drupal 6.0 has a glaring error in how it divides the text into two fields, when you press "Split summary." The utility works fine, if you have one contiguous block of text. However, if there are already linebreaks within the text... when the break occurs - then the cursor will be awkwardly moved to the right several characters, so that the break will occur at the wrong spot.

Can't replicate. Using Ff 2.0.0.12 Win XP. Splits nicely with various line breaks in the body.

I wonder if it's a \r\n vs. \n or \r type thing?

OK, gpk. Because you mentioned you didn't see the problem... I tested out a few of the browsers I thought you might be using. At first glance, I'll tell you that the problem doesn't seem to occur on Mozilla's Firefox. It does, however, happen with Opera 9.23 and Internet explorer 6.0. Cheers.

In IE7 I am seeing the split move 2 characters to the right before the split occurs. I edited a node created with the devel module.

The original post:

I placed the cursor immediately before "Illum" in the 2nd paragraph. Then I clicked Split summary at cursor. The results are as follows:

Confirmed #3 in IE7, but OK in Firefox 2.

Marked #345955: Split summary at cursor misses the cursor position as duplicate.

Still there in Internet Explorer 8 and the current Drupal 6 version.
