I know that clear documentation is provided in the README on how to configure the defaults for each role and how to re-order the list of roles using drag and drop in order to set the correct hierarchy so that users end up with the right default menu.

As an added feature of the user interface, however, I think it would be great if this explanation from the README appeared directly on the page where a user can do the dragging and dropping of roles.

The configuration of this module is almost self-explanatory, and I think that providing this explanation directly on the page where the role hierarchy is configured would eliminate the need for most users to read the README altogether. The idea of assigning a default to each role is self-explanatory on seeing the select_menu page, but it is not obvious that you can drag the order of roles or that the order would have any effect when you just look at the settings page on its own.

Thanks for the useful module by the way: it works great!

I think that's a ridiculously obvious request that shouldn't have had to be made :) Developers suck at documentation.

Done and done.

Is done via the Help module though, so text will only appear if Help module is on, but I think that's fair.
