Hi. I've already created initial port of this module. I've made it more for invesstagation of the poring process, but it already works perfectly for me.

There are several changes which should be done, for example CHANGELOG.TXT should be updated. And it would be really awersome for me to have right to push changes directly to 8-x branch so I could keep module up to date with D8 core changes. What do you think about it?

According to #233807-74: No navigation links on 404 pages 404 pages in Drupal 8 are now displaying navigation by default

So it seems that the project page needs to be updated to state that the problem is fixed in core, and mark the D8 issues as "closed (works as designed)"?
