Hey,
I have been using simplehtmldom library for years, I experienced memory leaks and other issues.
However, I still prefer this library and the module to others because they work fine with broken HTML.
It's painful for me to see how such great project is dying.
So I can invest a few hours to help with:
1) Fix existing issues in queue
2) Exclude simplehtmldom library from the project. It would be 7.x-2.x and 6.x-2.x branches. My patch https://drupal.org/comment/8407187#comment-8407187
3) Consider creating Drupal wrappers for simplehtmldom functions
4) Clean up documentation

Please let me know what you think or ask any necessary questions.
Thanks,
Konstantin

rsvelko CreditAttribution: rsvelko commentedI finally came along and wrote an email reply to a 6 days old email from Konstantin:
"hi, you are now a co-maintainer of the module and I give you full code/release freedoms. You only need to contact me for adding new people as co-maintainers.
I am sure you will do a great job!"
