Last year we had a discussion on whether to do keynotes or not. This turned into a discussion to identify who would be good to do keynotes. There was a poll posted on a variety of different suggested names. I personally like keynotes - I think that they draw attendees and give an event a sense of "fit and finish". I'd like to propose that we start a list of potentials here just to break the ice. I'll start the process by suggesting three inside our community.
Within the Drupal community:
- Jeffrey (Jam) McGuire - Hornecologne
- Angie Byron - Webchick
- Dries Buytaert - Dries
- Greg Dunlap - Heyrocker
- Josh Koenig - joshk
- Allie Micka - vauxia
- Jen Lampton - jenlampton
- Ariane Khachatourians - arianek
- Jay Batson - batsonjay
- Mike Meyers - michaelemeyers
Outside the Drupal community:
- Nicole Sullivan
- Kathy Sierra
- Felicia Pride
- Brad Feld
- Karen McGrane

cyberswat commentedHave we identified a theme for the camp? The theme of the event tends to help me identify good candidates for keynotes and featured speakers.
matthews commentedI've added a related issue - "Identify a Camp Theme".
cyberswat commentedI'd like to see Michael Meyers give a keynote

ultimateboy commentedI'm adding Felicia Pride to this year's list. Seems like people were really interested in seeing her speak last year and I have a feeling we'd be able to worth through whatever issues prevented her from speaking last year.

sreynen commentedI'm adding everyone we had on the list last year, except Jeff Eaton, since he actually spoke last year. I don't see any reason not to include everyone else.
That said, I would recommend not inviting Felicia Pride again, based on my experience working on that last year. As excited as I was about her speaking last year, it now seems like way more risk than it's worth when we have so many other great potential speakers.

matthews commentedI added Meyers to the main list.

cyberswat commentedWaiting for #2153453: Identify a Camp Theme to close out before resuming this.
matthews commentedOk, time to revive this thread. LSD is the theme. Mike Meyers, the VP of LSD for Acquia has indicated he would be interested in presenting. He'd be great on this subject.
matthews commentedI've updated the title to reflect we are looking for keynotes.

matthews commentedLets nail this down. Cyberswat, do you have any updates? I'm in meetings with Holly this week - should I to talk to her about this?
cyberswat commentedMeyers is confirmed ... Have vocal confirmation from Holly, waiting for final confirmation from her.
cyberswat commentedHolly declined. Waiting on a response from the next candidate (Jeffrey (Jam) McGuire - Hornecologne).
matthews commentedJAM declined for personal reasons. Not the least of which, it turned out it is in the middle of his vacation. He suggested we contact Chris Shattuck. What do others think about this?
matthews commentedAngie would also be a great one to reach out to.

cyberswat commentedWe have two candidates for the second keynote slot. The first is Jamshid Khazenie who is interested but has asked for a little time to confirm. We have asked that he do so by Wed. The second is Ken Rickard. Both are fantastic speakers with LSD experience.

cyberswat commentedKen Rickard has confirmed.
