It seems that my primary menu is showing up twice, once above the header and once below, as you can see in the attached screenshot ('about' menu item). It occurs whether i have suckerfish on or off.

any thoughts?

I'm not sure what is the issue here. Maybe you accidentally put primary links menu into header region?
