I've seen a few requests for menus popping out from the side. Here's one that would seem quite simple to add support for:

http://jpanelmenu.com/

It's even simple to use without a module, but it would be cool to have it as a module.

jpanelmenu doesn't play well with jquery 1.5, which d7 ships with. jquery_update may work when set to > 1.7, but results elsewhere in the site are less than satisfactory.

Pros / Cons vs Sidr?

I notice on the demo site (http://jpanelmenu.com) it does some unexpected stuff on Android phone (Galaxy S4).

  • Doesn't close clicking menu button again (it does work correctly on desktop - Chromium).
  • I navigated to a page using the menu and the next page loaded w/ the bar 1/2 size on right edge of screen (might just be their styling at fault).

I'm looking into FlexNav next.
It has it's own issues I've been able to produce, but they seem to have fairly active github activity (updates), and in this thread a user who is familiar with it seems confident.
Chime in if you have anything to add! #2213841: Please support FlexNav

Hey drastik,

I tried Sidr first and didnt have much luck.

Didn't try FlexNav.

If you are interested I ported jPanelMenu back to jQuery 1.5 this arvo: https://github.com/tallsam/jPanelMenu

Mostly just replaced .on and .off calls with .bind or .live

Seems to work nicely for me now.
