I've installed this module (and jquery update). I have enabled it and turned jquery update to 1.7.

I have the ability to add a tooltip on the field. However, the tooltip does not appear anywhere when adding a node.

Me too. Quite possibly it depends which theme you're using (Open Framework in my case). I'm going to try qTip instead.
