Q: should the default settings be on the same weight as the 'defaults'?
A: Not sure, but when i change this, the thumbnails work again (by default).

Related: #2098287: Media Youtube not genrating the preview thumbnails (but a new issue, due to the title and only 1 case like that matches the real issue and still no confirmation from the original author on that issue).

This is an issue with the Media module not using the same weights for the large thumbnail formatters as the default file formatters (provided by File entity) that it automatically replaces.
