Grayside commentedYou attempted to install Open Atrium to a site that had already been set up. Seeing that, you retargeted your settings.php file to a blank database.
At that point, an update will fail because you are attempting to make changes to an empty database. Install Open Atrium fresh to this database--you are starting from scratch.
If you are asking "How can I install Open Atrium on top of an existing Drupal site?", the answer is that you cannot. This is not a module, it is a distribution.

Well, you *can* go install the various submodules, such as oa_core, oa_discussion, etc. Just be sure to look in the oa_core.make file for the dependencies and patches needed. But yeah, you can't install a distribution onto an already installed Drupal site.
Not sure why this is marked as RTBC since there is no patch here to review.
