It already should be pretty good for the Drupal 6 port of the Services module as the API is still the same. The only thing that should change is the core value.

Added your patch, but doesn't have some of the Core 6.x requirements (namely the new way of stating dependencies). Ported it myself, and so far it's working. I diff'd it on my Mac and built this patch - but I don't guarantee that it works at all. It might even miserably fail to find the file to patch. And so, I zipped up the ported source code for get_server and included that too.

Sorry for the delay. You know, I thought this project was always experimental. I"m happy apply this, but my understanding is that people would be using REST server if anything.
