jhodgdonIMO it is a bit premature to add this to the D8 README, especially since there is an effort underway to move the most crucial examples into core, and secondly because so few of the examples have been ported to Drupal 8 so it's not all that useful yet.

damienmckennaPer the discussion on #1532612: Move Examples Project into Drupal core, several of the simple examples are going to be added to core, so this may not be needed at all.
frobUpdated the summery using template. Marking as active because I do think more discussion should happen about this.
Also, from reading the comments it is still up in the air if any of examples will be moving into core
and even if some of it did we should still have a link to the examples project for the non-simple examples.
This does cause one issue. There will be a great deal more pressure on the examples project to be kept up-to-date and not allow code in that doesn't follow proper coding standards.

mile23It doesn't seem that moving Examples into core is in the cards at this point. But even if it is moved into core, it will be piecemeal over time, and thus a link to the external project would be appreciated.
I'd say "Learn from documented Drupal API examples:"

jhodgdonThis patch doesn't seem to match the suggestion in #5... I think the wording is better in #5. Thanks!

jhodgdonI was just going to commit this but... should be https://www.drupal.org right?
Fixed that on commit. Thanks!

ressaSadly, it looks like this link was lost during an update of the README file ... Perhaps it can be added again?
