In Drupal 7, when creating fields through Field UI, fields were prefixed by 'field_'.

This is now made configurable, defaulting to 'field_'. The config name is called 'field_prefix' and is located in 'core/modules/field_ui/config/field_ui.settings.yml'.
There is no UI to change this setting, this needs to be done manually or with drush.

Note that changing the prefix can introduce clashes with fields from other modules or twig functions and should be done at your own risk.
