Requesting to add Sanskrit (संस्कृतम् saṃskṛtam ) language in Drupal multilingual list. Sanskrit alphabets are same ( with some differences ) as Hindi language alphabets also called Devanagari script. Sanskrit is most scientific language and it is the primary and liturgical language of all Indian origin Religions.
I wish to contribute in the Sanskrit translations for Drupal.

What's the correct lanugage code? From http://www.ethnologue.com/language/san I see that it can be written with several different scripts, so we'll need to specify that this is for Devanagari. (That way there won't be any confusion if someone else want to translate it using another script later.) So sa-deva looks like the right code, ref. http://rishida.net/utils/subtags/index.php?check=sa-deva&submit=Check . Do you agree?

What's the correct plural formula? I couldn't find it on http://docs.translatehouse.org/projects/localization-guide/en/latest/l10...

Do you know of any existing work on translating this language for Drupal? (If anyone else is working on this, we should contact them, so they can join the translation group here when it's created.)

Do you have more people ready to start working on this translation? (We can create the translation group even if you don't have more translators ready, but translating is a lot of work, so it's a good idea to get more people to join in the effort.)

sa-deva is the right code for Sanskrit language.

Sanskrit has 3 plural forms:
Form 0 for 1.
Form 1 for 2.
Form 2 for 0, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7...n
Plurals header in .po files= nplurals=3; plural=(n==1) ? 0 : (n==2)?1 : 2;

I am not aware about any existing work on translating Sanskrit language for Drupal.

Presently I don't have any more contributes for translation. Creation of the translation group is good idea. I can invite more people for translation from various field if require.

You can consider reply from "devinfoway" and "deveshbhatt" accounts are from same person. Sorry for creating confusion. I will take care about this in future.

Am working on the translations beginning with the Built-in interface, will make available .po files once done. Since sanskrit has a lot of synonyms for each word, it would be great to have a group for central collaboration with other interested contributors.

Many thanks.
Karthik
