In IE 8&9 the conditional operator select is blank on the conditionals webform admin.

Strange, innerHTML is one of the most reliable properties in JavaScript. In any case, the new code is just as readable and avoids some mixing of jQuery objects and pure JS, so it works for me. Committed to 7.x-4.x. Thanks!
