Not able to exclude VBO field using "exclude from display"

We have a rule which requires VBO field to exist to check for minimum number of results. But we also need to hide the VBO field in the View using the option to "Exclude from Display".

For some reason, this is not getting hidden after checking that option. Is it a known bug or please help if there is a way to hide it in a view.
