Reindexing/initial indexing does not work in latest 6.x-3.x

Just tried out the latest 6.x-3.x-dev version and I was never able to get the module to add any nodes to the queue. I would select node types, click the "queue all content for reindexing" button, and then would still see Remaining: 0.
I 'downgraded' to 6.x-3.0-rc1 and the problem disappeared.
