hi.
i wrote a migrate plugin and, when i run a drush migrate-import, i got the subject error:

WD ctools: Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module ctools and type arguments [error]
WD ctools: Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module ctools and type arguments [error]
WD ctools: Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module ctools and type arguments [error]
WD ctools: Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module ctools and type arguments [error]
WD ctools: Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module ctools and type arguments [error]

yeah, 5 times, and it doesn't go away until i clear the cache.

and, sometimes, this too:
WD ctools: Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module ctools and type content_types [error]

i'd just like to ask an hint to understand/investigate the issue, i cannot even exclude it is due to my code...

thanks for the attention.

Hm. CTools wasn't able to load...any of the plugins. That's really strange. What that error means is that when it tried to load the plugins, somehow the results of hook_ctools_plugin_types() wasn't found. This might mean that something didn't load correctly when using drush...I dunno. I've never seen anything like that happen, but something is really fubar to get a bug like that.

The place to debug is in the invocation of the hook above, which is utilized in ctools/includes/plugins.inc and figure out why it's not working. My guess is that something is broken in the module_implements cache.

somehow the results of hook_ctools_plugin_types() wasn't found.

i cannot find that hook. do you mean ctools_plugin_get_plugin_type_info() (called inside ctools_get_plugins())?
i guess i have to backtrace and discover why not all the plugins are filled in, right?

My guess is that something is broken in the module_implements cache.

and sorry... what do you exactly mean with module_implements cache?

thanks...

i upgraded path_breadcrumbs, from 7.x-3.0-beta1 to 7.x-3.0-beta2, and it seems that the error is gone.
do you think it's possible that the update of a module has fixed an error like that?

thanks again for your support.

The module_implements cache is an internal Drupal cache that keeps a record of what modules implement a particular hook. I don't know anything about path_breadcrumbs module; it seems more likely that a cache flush fixed things, and that you might still have that error come back someday if the conditions that created the error in the first place recur. However, sometimes that never happens. So I guess wait and see.

I'm going to mark this postponed; if it never comes back, then eventually someone will come by and close the issue. If it does, you'll probably have to do some legwork to try and figure out the conditions that cause it.

I'm beginning to think this relates to something going bad on a "drush updb". Clearing the cache will not make this go away. I don't think any of the ctool cache tables are relevant to this. The only thing that seems to work is to call drush updb again, and the problem disappears.

I see entries like this in my watchdog when the problem occurs:

 drush @signups ws

This is an extremely annoying issue, since it's happening deep in ctools' plugin mechanism, it recurs, and it's hard to make it go away.

I'm using 7.x-1.4 (same issue was on 1.3), on PHP 5.4.19.

I hit this issue on a Drupal Commerce site, with the exact same watchdog entries. In my case the module was "field_validation" and the type was "validator".

This module/type combo didn't appear in ctools_plugin_get_plugin_type_info(), but *did* appear in module_implements('ctools_plugin_type') (which ctools_plugin_get_plugin_type_info uses to populate its return value).

Calling ctools_plugin_get_plugin_type_info(TRUE) to flush that function's cache seems to have fixed it for me, at least short-term.

Maybe it would help if a call to ctools_plugin_get_plugin_type_info(TRUE) is placed in a hook_flush_caches implementation?

I have similar error when I run SimpleTest for custom connection using Web Service Clients (https://drupal.org/project/clients) from drush.

"WD ctools: Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module entityreference and type behavior"

Someone know where I should search for to fix it?

Thanks,

henk’s picture

For me helped adding parent for test in this case 'entityreference', 'ctools' parent::setUp(array('new_connection', 'entityreference', 'ctools'));

Clearing the cache made the error go away. Hasn't appeared yet.

I had the same issue occurred. Once cleared the cache the error gone. But sometimes later it will occur again.
