Maybe this is something you would be interested for adaptive themes. Great looking gui and it looks like superfish on steroids.

Superfish is so generic looking and all over the web on sites now. Something like this should have alot of appeal.
I forgot to mention this might work well with responsive sites as well or better than superfish.

Jeff Burnz commentedPure CSS dropdowns are not good because they are so very unforgiving of anything but perfect mouse control, so anyone with dexterity issue such as the elderly or me (not old but suffer from shaky hands) they can be a nightmare. Superfish menus came from the old Suckerfish menu which was pure CSS, but not great due to the above issue.
Personally I think the next great thing would be a superfish-esque menu system that used click interactions and was fully responsive (as in collapsed to a single top level item and took matchMedia breakpoints). Something like that.
