http://drupal.org/node/188408 indicates that the bug where the navigation menu title switches to "View" is fixed. I'm on the latest version of Panels and I can't seem to get this work.

I can set the menu options so that my title appears instead of "View" but then I get a tabs line showing up wth links to panels (with an active highlight if on that panel page.)

Any clues on how to fix this are appreciated.

Since the bug was reported in alpha13, any fix will not appear in alpha13. You'd have to go to -dev. You were told to upgrade to the -dev version. Clearly you did not. Why are you wasting my time with this?

My apologies!!! I upgraded panels after the date that you said you "checked in" the fix, so I didn't realize that there was still something else needed. I was also having trouble figuring out where to find the -dev version at the time (the date is September 13, 2007 which was before the bug report or your fix.) I see that there is now an alpha14 version and I'll try that when I'm on a better connection.

I'm new to drupal and learning to use it has been an "adventure." I really appreciate all those who have contributed modules for others to use and those who have taken time to help newbies learn all of the features. I certainly didn't mean to waste anyone's time.

P.S. I also wasn't positively sure that my problem wasn't a new bug since I was able to successfully not have "View" appear in the menu, but my problem was the line of "local tasks" tabs appearing for any of the panels.

Please understand that 'alpha' code is considered unstable code that's very much in testing; I appreciate that you're new to Drupal, but please be careful with this. I would think that someone fairly new to Drupal might want to stay away from code in the alpha state, at least until you've gotten comfortable with Drupal and our processes.

I'm also quite sure that at some point I'm going to seriously break something that was very important to you, due to the nature of alpha code.

I appreciate your comments and advice. And under normal conditions, I would agree to you. But the website, and the web team was thrown into the deep end of the drupal pool. We had an existing static site that was got a complete makeover and the decision to use drupal was based on the ability for non-tech savvy editors to update the content, not for the ease of designing the website. And the redesign look, feel and functionality was based on the designer's vision, not what drupal could do, or even what was stable code. The panels project has proved very useful for the layout we wanted. There was something that I also needed in the latest alpha version so I upgraded right before our launch. The only problem we've found so far was the navigation glitch and the second navigation line appearing when I changed the options to "fix" that. At least the project leaders understand that things may break because of drupal code, not because of anything that I can control.

Fair enough, but please tread carefully here; I'm not able to provide new user support on alpha code. My focus is on getting this stuff finished
