Small thumbnails instead of numbers ???

Hi
I want to set small thumbnails of each picture instead of slide numbers.
I will use it to present products and having small thumbnails instead of numbers is exactly what I need.
This would be a nice future to have in this exellent module.

I am willing to do it myself if somebody gives me the initial directions.
