Would be also nice to be able to count the number of downloads and restrict mass download (save server's overload) of files with time intervals, e.g. one file may only be downloaded n-times per day by 1 user (if registered) or IP (anon).
What do you think? Is there any module which already does this?

jpetso commentedI agree that this is a valid feature request and would probably a good thing to have (although I'd prefer a solution in an external module that hooks into some download hook). However, what makes you consider one *feature request*, out of many just as important ones, as "critical"? Please mind that if every issue had "critical" status, the really critical ones would get lost. Pushing back to normal.
boriso commentedAny progress regarding that request ? I am also interested in such a feature.
jpetso commentedNo progress here, and I need to take care of lots of other stuff (fixing bugs, mostly) before getting to this one. I'm glad to take patches, but probably won't implement this by myself for a long time coming.

mrtoner commentedI just installed Download Count (http://drupal.org/project/download_count) and it appears to do just what its name says.
jpetso commentedOh yeah, that's nice. I'm just adding a link to the module description page (which needed to be reworked anyways), so that other people also get to know that possibility. Didn't know that module before, and as it seems to be possible to do all that outside of filefield (and it's implemented as well), I'll just close this issue as "fixed".

tinohuda commentedsame problem here, I think it will be usefull.
Thanks...

jpetso commentedDude! The download_count module exists and is kicking arse! This bug is closed because the functionality is already implemented, and has been for a long time now. So don't mess with this issue.
