I am not using the bg-footer.gif file as I am using an all white background, but I wanted to point out that the footer graphic has a light border around the white area, and the content section of the page does not.

Also, on a very short page, the blue on the bottom of bg-footer.gif looks out of place against the lighter part of the background.

The light border you mentioned is how it's supposed to be. If you are customizing the theme, you'll have to change those aspects yourself.

As for the short page issue, that's something I will be fixing. The footer is supposed to be flushed to the bottom regardless of the page size, and it's not working correctly, so I will need to fix that.
