Here is a patch to let people dynamically filter by promoted status. It applies cleanly to the 5.x branch but im not using head yet so im not sure if earl has started moving it to d6 yet. YMMV

You don't need to use db_escape_string along with %d, but otherwise yes, this is committable. I'll get back to this the next time I actually bring up Views 1.6 to work on.

Sorry, but 'nodetype' and 'views_handler_arg_nodefrontpage' do not match logically and term-wise.

This issue hasn't had a real update in ages, it's not going to get fixed in 1.x
