Problem/Motivation

Many d.o. users are now used to editing community docs instead of adding comments. Few know that we want to get rid of comments and that we want to incorporate existing comments in the docs.

Proposed resolution

I would like to see a short motivating text below a community docs page with comments that encourages the reader to dedicate some of his time on incorporating these comments.

User interface changes

The text below the community docs page could be as follows:

Help improving this community documentation

This community documentation page has comments from drupal.org users. These [comments may contain useful information : LINKS TO /node/135589] that can be used to improve this documentation. Be bold: [edit this page and include that useful information: LINKS TO NODE EDIT FORM]!
When you are done, [report to the moderator: LINKS TO CREATE ISSUE FOR DOCUMENTATION] so he/she can remove the comments.
If %1 of all drupal.org users does this next time when they read a docs page, then we will have all comments incorporated by … tomorrow.

This is a bit long, but as a draft it shows the idea.

I would not show this on pages without comments (too confusing)

I would like to see that message there temporarily. If it is a great success, it can be disabled, so that I can catch up with deleting the comments.

It could also be shown only during a certain period (e.g. month of November), supported by a bit of marketing to encourage users during a certain period to improve docs.

We are working on cleaning up Drupal.org-related issue queues. Many issues have been open for years with no resolution because there were no volunteers interested in taking on the task or staff time available to complete the work.
We are going through old issues and marking them as Closed (won't fix). If you feel your issue has been closed in error, please do comment on the issue and let us know. If we know something is critical, we may reconsider the closure of a feature request or bug report.
Thank you for your understanding while we work to clean up the Drupal.org queues.
