rp1428 commentedThe ad in question was a jpg image that I used the File Attachment to attach and then I pressed Submit. I tired this a number of times each time resulting in error.
Comment #2
rp1428 commentedThe problem does not occur on all ads. I changed file system setting to file/tmp as the temp directory and the page returns:
* Operating in off-line mode.
* Unable to locate image files/tmp/tmp_HgkerF.
* Your Advertisement has been created.
The file files/tmp/tmp_HgkerF exists initially (after the attach) and then disappears from what I can tell.

rp1428 commentedProblem seems to be in image_scale based on debug. It appears to hang. A quick search on this site indicates ( http://drupal.org/node/51826 ) that image_scale is an issue. I increased the preview image size in the image module to be 2000 pixels wide effectively preventing image_scale from being called and everything now appears to be working.

rp1428 commentedI *think* that this may be memory related and the gd image library is unable to scale the images. I also get type offset errors in taxonomy.module and I am having problems adding images as content as well. I changed the size of the thumbnail to be 2200 pixels and the problem goes away.
I am thinking that the GoDaddy memory size is not sufficient for gd to work with larger images.

jeremy commentedThanks for all the info. Any ideas on how we can auto-detect this type of failure, and report it to the user so they don't have to spend time debugging it again?
Comment #6
rp1428 commentedI'm about to start a Drupal site that is heavily image (upload) based. I will need the image routines. One thing I don't intend to do is to use GoDaddy and I'll use a service that permits ssh. I'll provide some more feedback as I get into it. The problem with GoDaddy is that they put a wall around the hosting and it's hard to figure out what is going on inside the wall.
