Like all those who have tried this module, I, too, think it's great! The patch in the Issues section fixed the sorting problems I had initially, thanks.
I was wondering if it would be possible to separate a pre-existing list of terms into logical sets to simulate a fixed hierarchy? For example:
World >> Asia, Europe, North America...
Asia >> China, Japan...
.........
.........
Japan >> Population, Land size...
The idea is that if a user clicked first on Asia, then on Japan, and then Population, you would get a hierarchy like: World >> Asia >> Japan >> Population. And ultimatly result in a URL that reflected that...
Basically, I'd just like to label a set of pre-defined tags into various groups as a way of guiding users to use as much of the existing tags as possible without creating too many new ones. My actual application isn't as logical as the example above -- the tags are a mix of financial and technical terms, so it is hard for users to find the right tags in this "tag soup".
I don't quite know on how to do this, so any pointers on how to proceed will be wonderful. For me, this would be the icing on this cake of a module! Thanks, all.

Crell commentedThe UI for that sounds like it would be very confusing. Sometimes clicking a link would change the links, sometimes it would fill in the free-tagging field. That's not a feature of free-tagging in Drupal, either. It sounds like you want the normal, non-free-tagging interface, possibly with a multi-select module.
