I'd like to write additional files when exporting ctools exportables. I'm going to start a Drush Ctools Export Bonus project in a few days with already one feature in it: export all field api fields to code and a drush command to (re)build all field api fields. More things will be added to that project later on - and might need additional alters later on in the drush code.
