Some recent events led me to question the value of long IRC discussions and my fitness on having admin rights and so I am going to use IRC much, much less in the future (for now, not at all) and also I am stepping down as the Freenode group contact. Someone else needs to become one (although how long that takes, i have no idea, there has been a lot of confusion in the past about this when I tried to have other appointed, latest freenode blog post http://blog.freenode.net/2012/06/group-registration-closure/ here) I will give said person the drupalircowner user password, most channels are owned by that irc nick, so it's easier to administer access lists. If there's a channel which is not owned by drupalircowner and you need to administer it, you will need to find freenode staff (either /stats p or voiced users on #freenode) and ask them. You will need to administer cloaks which is also something only staff can do at this point so you just take the latest nicks , convert the uid into the drupal.org/user/12345/view format, drop it in a pastebin and ask staff to handle those cloaks.

Hi chx,

Please ping me on either freenode/email or our irc server. I'll take over as the contact.

Having the infrastructure team be the owner and appoint people makes a lot of sense. I sent Narayan the drupalircowner password (Gerhard already had it since '08 when I created this user for bus factor purposes). Thanks.

chx,

Disregard any confusion that can come from that blog post as it won't apply to an existing group. Let me or other staff know via IRC or email (the one on this account is fine for that) and we'll proceed however you feel is best.

tomaw.

Just on record, since I'm very active on freenode - if nnewton steps down at some point, I'm available to be used and abused for this :)
