I ran into some trouble with this module in combination with Simplenews and the Emogrifier module to send HTML emails. Everything worked fine, except that the CSS of my Theme for this HTML email was not applied to my outgoing HTML mail. When I turned the HTML5 tools module off, the CSS worked as expected.
I don't now if this is a bug, but in my case turning off this module did the trick.

You may need to extend your CSS.

e.g:

input[type="text"]
input[type="search"]
input[type="email"]
input[type="password"]
