hi acouch,
as a follow up on my earlier posts:
i tried to uninstall views galleriffic 7.x-1.x-dev
it didnt seem to be removed, but apparently i should have first remove the galleriffic view with the content on my website before replacing the module.
i thought i would just be temporarily disabled.
how do i get back in to edit my website?
please let me know.
best,
ciao,
roma

blacktigerclaw CreditAttribution: blacktigerclaw commentedhi acouch,
made a clean install again and found out that the ajax http error i was having before while trying to install views galleriffic 7.x-1.1 could be resolved by
clicking enter again in the link of the browser. apparently the installation first has to make some kind of connection with the server and then established that
when you hit enter again. so in the end i was able to install the newest version of views galleriffic.
and this time i also installed some backup modules, so that i don't have to do a new install again when something goes wrong... ; )
in the meanwhile i had a look at the stylesheet for views galleriffic basic/default. i noticed that i have to change some values for variables.
how can i do this?
for instance if i use a smaller slide; set the width of the caption box also to this size.
i also want the textbox to be invisible itself.
i can see the parameters to change, but i don't know how to use the stylesheet; where should i look for it? or import it?
best,
ciao,
blacktigerclaw

acouch CreditAttribution: acouch commentedI think this is an error having to do with the Update Manager. It could be an issue with your host not giving you enough memory: http://drupal.org/node/1066956
Here is an open issue that looks very similar: http://drupal.org/node/1192990 I might chime in there.

not sure if the ajax error has to do with memory. i have 4gb of webspace and am only using 27mb so far.
this is the package i have: https://www.strato.nl/hosting/expert/
i think it's better to change the warning message for uninstalling views galleriffic. it says that you might loose some content permanently, but not that you
will loose control over the whole site, because uninstalling caused a fatal error and i had to set up everything again.
anyway, it's just a tip. maybe others with the same ajax error can also easily by-pass it, by waiting a few seconds and hitting enter again in the link bar of the browser.
