i don't know if this is probably a token-issue but i only tested it with pathauto so i post it here.

[catpath] acts like [cat] in path templates. for example when using it for the forums it happens like this:

forum/[catpath] translates into something like

1.x: forum/myfirstforum/mysubforum
2.x: forum/mysubforum and forum/myfirstforum

the 2.x behaviour is like [cat] should be.

Pathauto was using taxonomy_get_parents but should have been using taxonomy_get_parents_all

I introduced a slight regression with this that terms would get aliased as /term/term or /parent/term/term instead of just /term/ or /parent/term

I believe that's fixed now :)
