Has anybody done something with ns in respect to archive pages? If so, can you share the best practices for that? Is it best to work with the default archive views? Or are there ns-specific ways or modules to accomplish a structured, categorized and paginated archive page?

We don't have any pre-built archive features for NodeStream, so Views is probably the best way to go. The archive view is a good starting point.
