When I activated the voting module, the voting widget appeared on all nodes even if the content type was set to display "never" for voting. Only after resaving the file does the widget conform to the default setting.

This version of Voting is not supported anymore. The issue is closed for this reason.
Please upgrade to a supported version and feel free to reopen the issue on the new version if applicable.
