How to add a default value to email textfield.

When using a block for anonymous users it would be nice to have a default value disappearing on click like "Please enter your email" for cases where the labels are hidden.
I looked through the mailchimp_lists.module but cannot locate where the block textfields are created.
How should I go about making this change?
