How do you upgrade? Tried the normal procedure, which obviously failed.
I know of this upgrade issue(http://drupal.org/node/1294498), but it seems that this only applies to minor upgrades in 7.x.-2.x?

#1445692: upgrade media 7.1.RC3 Module to Media 7.2.dev contains a little more content although technically your issue is older.
