I am not completely sure how to describe this issue, but the layout and look of my webpages change. When I clear the cashes the display looks as it should (solu2), but after I view an item such as a forum post, then click the link to view a different one, the display changes (solu1). I am attaching the pictures so that you can better understand the issue I am trying to convey.
Also, I running Drupal 7.10 and all of my modules are up to date.
Any help offered will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Dawn

I suspect this is not a views issue (it does not even look like you are using views). I would try validating the html of the page.

I am using Views 7x3.1, Views Bulk Operations, and Views UI. This issue was nonexistent till I upgraded.

merlinofchaos’s picture

You may be using Views but that looks like a node page, and that is not normally powered by Views. It looks like the CSS is somehow getting lost.

If you can export the view that's generating that we might be able to help. Possibly attach the HTML source of the pages (both before and after) so we can see what's changed.

dpmeterson’s picture

I am not sure how to validate the html of a page, but this happens on all forum and blog pages. As I mentioned sometimes it will display correctly and other times it will not. My guess is it is some type of refresh issue because right after I clear the caches my pages display as normal (solu 2), but once I click on a few links the display reverts back to (solu1). I am running advanced forum, debut forum, and the word press blog. I also recently added the captcha module to keep out spammers. I want it to display as (solu 2). Do you have any other suggestions? My website is http://www.solutionchasers.com if you want to take a peak.
Also, I want to thank you for your effort in trying to help me.

It is a node (http://www.solutionchasers/node/16), but the options to view and see revisions are present within the display; should they not be? How do I export the view that it is generating? This is probably going to sound ridiculous, but how do I generate the html code of the page? Is that something that I can find in my log files? I am learning a lot quickly, but this is my first website hosting experience. I only started last October and I knew nothing then. Would it help to tell you that I am running Samara; I can upload the theme css files if that helpful?

Ok, I suspect you are confusing the 'view' tab with the views module (they are not related).

I also can not reproduce the problem, it may be the browser you are using or even the internet connection.

And the blog looks like a standard Drupal blog (not a Wordpress blog).

dpmeterson’s picture

Ok, I suppose that it could be my internet connection (I have Comcast cable internet), but I have three different browsers on my computer (MS. Explorer, Firefox, and Safari) and I can reproduce the problem in all of them, on both my desktop and laptop, so it is not the browser or my computer. I suppose I will have to check it at work tomorrow and see what it looks like on Verizon's DSL. Thanks! Btw, you were right I was confusing the view tab with views. Perhaps, I don't have a problem.
Dawn

dpmeterson’s picture

Well, I tried it on Verizon and the same thing keeps happening, so yes I do have a problem. I am not sure how to fix it any suggestions? I can use bulk operations to export the code if that helps.

This is likely not a views issue, but could somebody explain why when I clear the caches I get solu2 and solu 1 after I navigate through a couple of forums, please? Where do I start to track this issue?
Thanks!
Dawn

nevets’s picture

How about providing the exact steps/pages you follow to produce the error, make sure you can duplicate the problem.

merlinofchaos’s picture

My best guess is that somewhere you're losing the .css that goes with the data. Why or how I don't know, unfortunately. This looks to me like it's advanced forum. Perhaps you should search the advanced forum queue and see if anything turns up.

dpmeterson’s picture

All I have to do is clear the caches navigate to a forum, go to a topic, click back on the forums tab, go back to the same topic and the problem occures. Another issue that I have which is related to this one is the save button on my forums disappear. You can preview submissions, but you cannot save them. I figure that I am loosing my style sheet, but I do not know which one. How do I find out what code my site is generating when the problem occurs? Is there a specific log file that I should review? Please, offer some direction. Thanks.

nevets’s picture

I tried Forums >> "Business Issues" >> "Management Concerns" followed by Forums >> "Business Issues" >> "Management Concerns" and can not reproduce the problem. One difference from what I did and what you stated is I used the Forums link in the navigation menu (I see to no Forums tab).

At this point I would use firebug and look at what css is loaded when it works and what css is loaded when it does not.

dpmeterson’s picture

The problem is still happening and I have no idea of how to fix it or where to even look. Any more ideas?

Project: Views (for Drupal 7) » Advanced Forum
Version: 7.x-3.x-dev » 7.x-2.x-dev
Component: Miscellaneous » Styles

First point. This is definitive not views, as it's about rendering a single node. So let's move to advanced forum.

The main difference is that the advanced forum style is not loaded on the page.
@michelle I can just guess but maybe the post itself have to be in a forum

@dpmeterson
To start trying to find the root of the problem i would recommend you to switch to a drupal core theme to test whether the css files are loaded there. Garland or bartik are some good chooses.

dpmeterson’s picture

Thanks for the response. The problem still occurs even when I take the site to Bartik and Garland. I think that the issue lies somewhere in the code. For some reason, it is sometimes retrieving the wrong impute data. When the display is correct, the error is gone. My site is fairly new so I could technically reinstall and start all over, but I am not certain that would help; what do you think? Advice is appreciated. Thanks!

As I can see, solutionchasers.com site is not using advanced forum...?

dpmeterson’s picture

Yes,
I inactivated the module yesterday, because it is clearly the cause of my problem. I would love to reactivate it, but since I have people who are going to be posting on it soon, I want it working. When the style sheet breaks the comments are sometimes not shown. I am really not sure what is going on, but everything works well without the advanced forum module. I will however complement Michelle, its developer, for creating such a great a looking forum. When the module is correctly displayed it looks awesome and has a lot of cool features. I do want to use it.

I started the ball rolling but troky took it to D7. :) No need for me to be hogging all the credit. LOL!

Your issue sounds like a caching problem and is likely specific to the setup of your site which, unfortunately, makes it difficult to troubleshoot. :(

Michelle

dpmeterson’s picture

Actually, I have recently realized that the layout changes when you are logged in, go to forums, click on a forum , then a topic, and then repete the steps ( go back to forums and click the same topic. Is that helpful?

This is an old issue so hopefully it's been resolved. If not, you can set it active again but not sure what more we can do for something site specific.
