Hi,
I can't work out why my ads aren't being displayed. I've tried with both the sidebar and content types. I've created the ads, and they're not expired. The block is being displayed and I can see the block title. The ads themselves just aren't being displayed.
I can display the ads successfully in a custom view, but that doesn't take advantage of the rotating feature, so it's not really an option.
Interestingly, if I restrict the content types to simpleads in either the sidebar or content blocks, the blocks don't display at all. It's as though they are empty. If I clear the restriction, it displays the title (as mentioned earlier), but no ads.
When I view the source, it appears to be trying to load the ads:
advertise
Could I be missing something? What could be causing this?
Steps that I've taken:
1. Install SimpleAds module.
2. Create ads, both image and text.
3. Add SimpleAds blocks to desired regions.

minnur commentedHi,
1. Please open simpleads_block.tpl.php in simpleads/templates directory.
2. Comment out _simpleads_load(... line
3. Uncomment code below /* if (count($ads....
and see if that works. I just want make sure that's not jS conflict.
Also try print_r($ads) in the same template.
Thanks

r_miller commentedHi minnur,
That worked. Thanks. I haven't tried print_r($ads). I'm not sure where to put this, or what it does, but it seems to be displaying the ad correctly.
There is still one issue, (or perhaps my misunderstanding of how it's supposed to work). When I click on the banner, I was expecting it to go to take the visitor to the url specified in each ad (sponsor's home page). Instead it goes to the ad node.
Is there a way that I can get the ad to act as a hyperlink to the sponsors website?
Regards,

minnur commented@r_miller, This was done to simplify the process of editing ads. If you have permission to "Administer content" you'll be redirected to the ad node. Please open the page in a different browser (as anonymous user) and try to click on the ad banner.
Thanks.

r_miller commentedAhh, thanks again. By the way, thanks for putting this module together. It's exactly what I was looking for.

badrun commentedIt works, thanks

Ges commentedThank you minnur,
That worked nicely.
The
_simpleads_load(...was already commented out as was the
<?php if (count($ads)...php block.
I simply removed the comments of that block and all was working.
The print_r php function is very useful in cases like this.
The version I downloaded was simpleads-7.x-1.7 on this same date.

websmash commentedI couldn't fix this with the suggested bugfixs.
In print_r($ads) I see the banner, what can I do?
