Read more link by default appears on every teaser view in D7, even when there is nothing more to read. This is bad for UX. The present module might incorporate an option (or default) to hide 'Read more' when there is no more to read.

This has been recognized as a problem for core, but curing it has proved difficult and it is not clear whether on when it will be fixed for D8, let alone back-ported to D7 : http://drupal.org/node/823380 , http://drupal.org/node/1300568

A sandbox project to cure the problem in contrib exists, is in use and appears to be stable http://drupal.org/sandbox/Monochrome/1088582. However the developer appears to have lost interest after it was controversially suggested that he was unlikely to be approved to give it a full release on the grounds that it distracted energy from fixing the same problem in core.

Perhaps that feature could be added to this module instead.

Amen. The issue in #823380: Read More link is always visible on teaser. is, IMHO, a significant blocker for adoption of D7.

Issue summary: View changes

Since you are referring to the default Drupal Read More link at the bottom of teasers,
and since it can now be turned off in the Read More Link (read_more) module version 7.x-1.01,
this issue could technically be closed.

nb: the module though does output its own Read More link even if there is no teaser/summary or even if the teaser/body are the same (argh, I know).

EDIT: as an alternative, the Read More Control module fixes all this.
