Seems like some basic functionality is missed in DS Extras.
There is no option to hide a field value - like with hiding a label of a field. Currently there are only 3 theming options for a field:
* Default
* Reset
* Expert
and none of them allows to "skip" field rendering.
At first sight it seems like removing a field from the display does this job, but this will also remove a field from the subsequent building and field won't get addintional data, required to the field output. And what if you still need the field's value - say, in a custom Code Field?
The solution seems very trivial to me. We just need to add one more theming option: Hide. This can be implemented in a micro-module or right in the ds_extras.module. I believe the latter is preferable.

swentel commentedThe field is always available in the entity, so I don't see any added value to this at this point. Can you give me some more use cases, because I'm rather closing setting this to won't fix than committing. Also, patch needs to be done against latest dev.

Use case: add a Сode Field and use there a replacement pattern (token) of any field which is not added to a region, in my case it was taxonomy term field. Rendered array lacks of loaded term - just tid, which is not enought for theming term value and error message apperas and there is no data output.

OnkelTem commentedI suggest to resolve this issue as "by design" or "won't fix"
