MJD commentedI too have a requirement where a single video can be attached to multiple nodes... so if the video is removed from one I still need it to remain available for others... even if not attached to any nodes...
I had hoped that I could override the behaviour with Filefield Sources (http://drupal.org/project/filefield_sources) ...but that doesn't work...
If the above solution works that would be great or maybe Filefield Sources could be used in some way e.g. be made to work together
Anyway, I add my support to this request

MJD commentedI've just tried changing the widget from VideoFTP to Video & using Filefield Sources and that appears to work... no problems at this stage

Jorrit commentedI found out about FF Sources too, after I made this feature request. I was going to recommend FF Sources to you, as it already supports keeping the FTP files. You need to apply FF sources to the Uploadfield though, as you discovered. The FTP field erroneously reports that it supports FF sources. I have to fix that.

MJD commentedFF sources actually takes a copy & the copy gets deleted if removed thereby preserving the original...
agreed video upload and video widget is the combo I'm using
