In the README.txt, it says:

-- INSTALLATION --

1. Install and activate the module as normal, see http://drupal.org/getting-started/install-contrib/modules for further information.
2. Active Text Format /admin/config/content/formats that allows html tags.
3. Optionally, activate core Help module at /admin/modules.

What is the second step trying to say? And, the path does not exist (admin/config/content/formats).

It means that you must allow for span tags in the text format you want to use. The link is relevant to d7. It may need a backport but I've updated the readme for the 7.x-2.x version.
