We are going to get lots of requests for supporting the alt/title data on image fields as we steer people away from image fields. It would be really good to have some clear documentation on how to recreate this functionality on 2.x.

Support for alt/title data on image fields is (about to be) implemented in file_entity (see #1553094: Alt and Title support for Images).
