When I upload an image for a module on drupal.org the selection on the project type selection (Drupal core, Module, ...) is lost.

Project: I hope this is the right issue queue for reporting this.
Version: Not sure which version is deployed on drupal.org.
Component: Not sure.

I expect this has been fixed as a side effect of Drupal upgrades. These are now regular fields on project nodes.
